Darby and Evan’s Hawaii wedding at Turtle Pointe Estate in Makena, Maui, took place halfway between their two hometowns — Darby is originally from Kansas City, and Evan is from Sydney, Australia. The couple made sure to incorporate a piece of their current home, San Francisco, to their celebration by including bougainvillea all throughout their decor, basing their bold pink color palette off the bright fuchsia flower. The rattan and koa wood elements in the furniture and dancefloor represented Hawaii, and they added a very personal touch to their chuppah. Their rabbi suggested using a tablecloth as the ‘ceiling,’ so they could carry a part of their ceremony with them for the rest of their life together.
Darby and Evan had their first look at the signing of the ketubah, a moment that was full of overwhelming emotion thanks to Evan’s groomsmen. They sang as they escorted Evan to the signing, building momentum as they got closer and closer. By the time they reached Darby and her family, everyone was moved to tears. The groomsmen's high energy set the tone for the rest of the day, and their crowd surfing during the Hora got the party started before dinner was even served. It was a warm, lovely Hawaiian night, and guests dined and danced under the stars with the sound of the ocean waves crashing in the background.
