SAN FRANCISCO ROOFTOP, 2018
The Battery, Ruby & Rose
When Kaitlyn first saw Robbie, he was onstage with his band Taxes, playing the ukulele and wearing a Taylor Swift t-shirt. It was love at first sight for both of them, and their whirlwind romance led to setting a wedding date six months after getting engaged. They were married on the rooftop of the Battery in San Francisco, where views of the Transamerica building served as the backdrop for their modern fall ceremony. They exchanged vows from a shared stage in front of 80 guests, surrounded by wild and romantic arrangements of dahlias, garden roses, lilies, and delphinium in shades of pale pink and cream. Robbie is a huge Morrissey fan and they’ve seen at least eight concerts since they started dating, so Kaitlyn’s vows included a promise to keep attending his shows. Since Morrissey is notorious for canceling his concerts at the last minute, Kaitlyn added a note, ”No matter how many times they get cancelled!”
Kaitlyn wore a Theia gown paired with Christian Louboutin gold pumps, while her bridesmaids wore black dresses accessorized by a single-stem rose tied with a flowing ribbon. Robbie donned a classic white dinner jacket and satin-stripe tuxedo pants, adding his grandfather’s tuxedo studs and an oversized bowtie as a personal touch. They celebrated with a rich, jewel-toned dinner reception designed by Ruby and Rose, where I captured so many candids with my Holga that felt timeless, regal, and a little bit rock n roll, just like the couple themselves. The whole evening was brought to life by their captivating energy, ending with the newlyweds pouring a champagne tower and dancing the night away with all of their guests.
